Asbestos Awareness Training Course

Who this course is aimed at:

Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, any person who is, or is likely to enter a building that may contain asbestos must have this statutory training.

Course objectives/key benefits:

By the end of the course delegates will be able to: -

• Understand what asbestos is, the different types of it and the risks to health
• Identify the operations that could give rise to exposure and the safe working practices to minimise risk
• Be aware of the procedures for removing and disposing of asbestos
• Identify and use the equipment that is required when asbestos is present

Course content:

• The properties of asbestos and its effects on health
• The types of products or materials likely to contain asbestos
• Operations that could result in exposure of asbestos and the importance of using preventative measures
• The control limits and need for air monitoring
• Safe working practices, control measures and PPE
• Hygiene requirements and emergency, decontamination and waste handling procedures
• Health surveillance requirements

Training method:

Seminar including practical and group work.

Course outcome/qualification:

MB Safety Training certificate that is valid for 3 years.
