The Aim

This course aims to gain a clearer understanding of the effects and exposure of asbestos. To be able to identify the common areas of asbestos and to wear the correct personal protective equipment when working near asbestos.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who could come into contact with suspected asbestos containing materials. building surveyors, construction trades such as plumbers, carpenters and electricians.

Objective

When completed the delegate should be able to understand the reasons why asbestos is a hazard, have an understanding of the current legislation, to also be able to explain the main hazards associated with asbestos and to be aware of uses and locations of asbestos containing materials (ACM)

  • The purpose, choice, limitations, proper use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment
  • Emergency procedures

To satisfy the requirement on employers to ensure that their staff have undergone suitable asbestos awareness training so that they are aware of the potential dangers they may face and also the procedures they must follow in the event they are working in.
