What is CHAS?

The CHAS health and safety assessment scheme is a pre-approval scheme to allow contractors to show potential clients that they meet the required health and safety standards.

The main purpose of CHAS is to avoid repeated applications by suppliers and contractors to become approved as local authority suppliers and to improve health and safety in small to medium sized businesses. Whilst the CHAS assessment scheme is a local authority and government backed scheme, it can be used by any organisation looking to short list suppliers and contractors and can save time and money for all parties.

How do I become CHAS approved?

You can of course make the application yourself. But the process is lengthy and there is a high chance of being declined if you have no experience of the application process and or your health and safety program is not up to scratch.

MBHS can provide you with expert help with your CHAS application. We are CHAS accredited ourselves and have worked with numerous firms to help them gain CHAS status for which references can be provided.

There are a lot of 'consultants' providing support from their desk or who make just one visit and that's it. CHAS are clearly irritated by these 'consultants' which usually end in a rejection of the application. Please see the following note from the CHAS website: http://www.chas.gov.uk/Bulletins.asp?id=1

We will meet with you, review your current documents and attend sites to make sure the documents are relevant to the work to be undertaken. MBHS are a management outsourcing company; which means we get stuck in and help you. Though we will not be able to provide a quote as cheap as those selling generic documents, we will be fair and honest because our success is only guaranteed if we keep you as a client over the long-term.

Prices range from £950 - £1950. Prices vary dependent upon the amount of health and safety documentation already available. Click here for more info on the documents required and pricing.

Prices are valid for applicants with a base located in the South East of England. Firms located elsewhere in the UK will be subject to traveling and accommodation charges where necessary. All quoted prices are subject to VAT

Please call us on 0800 068 0188 to discuss your requirements
