Is the NEBOSH National Construction Certificate right for me?

CDM co-ordinators, construction industry supervisors and managers (those who must make sure that activities carried out under their control are done so in safety) are the main targets of the NEBOSH National Construction Certificate. This is a qualification that is worthwhile for people who manage buildings, and in so doing have to be sure that their contractors work according to the current health and safety legislation.

Supervisors & Managers in other fields may find that this Certificate is also useful: this may include sectors where temporary workplaces are used. Examples include public utilities, and broadcasting.

How does an employer benefit?

NEBOSH National Construction Certificate is chosen by leading building firms as an important element in supervision and management programmes. Line managers are more likely to foster true safety cultures in their organisations if they are given a good grounding in the principles of risk management.

Employers in smaller construction operations, and their managers, report that when staff members are working on other companies’ sites, the Certificate enables them to meet the regulations of clients and their principal contractors.

CITB Attendance Grants may be available to payers of the CITB levy, for those who attend the course.

What areas are covered?

  • The Certificate course deals with a wide range of hazards found in construction.
  • It also teaches methods for controlling them.
  • The major legal requirements relating to construction work are covered.
  • Delegates learn how to carry out effective construction site safety inspections.
  • Revisions to the course content have brought it into line with the most recent legislation, the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.
  • Assessment for NGC1 & NCC1 is by written exams.
  • Assessment for NCC2 is via practical examination which tests the students’ ability to identify construction workplace health & safety issues.

Where are the courses held?
